Founded in 1826 by entrepreneur James Allardice and nestled in the valley of Forgue, deep in the East Highland hills, it is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Literally meaning "Valley of the Brambles," The GlenDronach Distillery is renowned for its range of the highest quality, richly sherried single malt Scotch whiskies. Over many years, The GlenDronach Distillery has thrived under the stewardship of various investors with single malt whisky experience and since 1826, The GlenDronach Distillery has carried forth the tradition of founder James Allardice by maturing whisky in the finest Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks. We are proud of our reputation as the sherried whisky connoisseurs and have a dedicated fan base that follows The GlenDronach. And they are not alone. Our well-kept secrets have been guarded for 200 years by a parliament of rooks who love The GlenDronach so much they try to nest in the warehouses. The distillery folk believe as long as the rooks remain at the distillery, it will be a good sign for the whisky. In 2016, Brown-Forman Corporation acquired three single malt distilleries, Benriach, The GlenDronach, and Glenglassaugh, and in 2017, Rachel Barrie became the new Whisky Maker, bringing more than two decades of industry experience with her.
