The Trinchero family chose Napa Valley for their American wine venture, relocating from New York to restart Sutter Home in 1948 after it had been shuttered by Prohibition for nearly three decades. The family continues to operate the winery today, building a legacy around making approachable, enjoyable wines - most notably inventing the White Zinfandel category during the 1970s.
